Will Cialis help my erectile dysfunction?

Cialis is a treatment for adult men with erectile dysfunction (ED) . This is when a man cannot get, or keep a hard, erect penis suitable for sexual activity. Cialis has been shown to significantly improve the ability of obtaining a hard erect penis suitable for sexual activity.

How will Cialis work?

Cialis contains the active substance Tadalafil which belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors. Following sexual stimulation Cialis works by helping the blood vessels in your penis to relax, allowing the flow of blood into your penis. The result of this is improved erectile function. Cialis does not have an effect on your sexual desire but will improve your erection when you become sexually aroused.

You and your partner will need to engage in foreplay, just as you would if you were not taking a medicine for erectile dysfunction.

How should I take Cialis on Demand?

Cialis On Demand should be taken before sexual intercourse, as required. Cialis On Demand should be taken at least 30 minutes before sex. The effects of Cialis can last for up to 36 hours, when sexually stimulated.

Never take Cialis more than once a day. Eating food before taking Cialis should not have any influence on its effectiveness.

Also, you are advised not to drink excessive amounts of alcohol before taking Cialis in order to get maximum benefit from taking your medication as drinking alcohol can temporarily affect your ability to get an erection. Grapefruit juice may also affect the effectiveness of Cialis and should be taken with caution.

Product Information

Cialis vs Tadalafil

Medically, Tadalafil and Cialis work in the same way, as Tadalafil is the active ingredient in both treatments. Tadalafil and Cialis both work as PDE-5 inhibitors; giving the blood flow into the penis a boost and encouraging the achievement and maintenance of a harder erection. Like Cialis, Tadalafil is taken in advance of sexual intercourse, and can remain effective for up to 36 hours.

One of the main differences between generic, unbranded Tadalafil and the branded Cialis version, is the price point.

Whereas Cialis is able to command a higher price thanks to the global brand recognition which it is has developed, Tadalafil can take advantage of its reduced overheads in terms of not being responsible for litany research and development including marketing and offer customers a lower price point. Both Tadalafil and Cialis are available in doses that can be taken either on demand when anticipating sexual activity or every day in order to respond to any sexual stimulation spontaneously.

Thus, the only thing that separates them is price!

Ingredients

Cialis's active ingredient is Tadalafil, and is commonly available in strengths of 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg and 20mg.

The other ingredients (excipients) in Cialis are:

Tablet core: lactose monohydrate, croscarmellose sodium, hydroxypropylcellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium laurilsulfate, magnesium stearate.Film-coat: lactose monohydrate, hypromellose, triacetin, titanium dioxide (E171), iron oxide yellow (E172), talc.

The inactive ingredients (excipients) used by manufacturers of the generic Tadalafil tablets may vary. Those manufacturers include Actavis, Accord, Aspire, Mylan, Ranbaxy, Teva, Sandoz, Sovereign and Aurobindo.

What is the starting dose of Cialis ?

The recommended starting dose is 10mg taken at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. If this dose is highly effective, subsequent doses can be reduced to 5mg.If repeated trials of a 10mg dose prove ineffective, without side effects, the dose can be increased to 20mg.

No more than one Cialis tablet should be taken per day, and other ED treatments should not be taken within this time frame. Cialis tablets should only be taken to treat ED, not for 'recreational use' when not needed. They should be taken orally, with or without food, and swallowed whole.

The following warnings should be considered when taking Cialis: - No more than one Cialis tablet should be taken per day

  • Drinking alcohol at the same time as taking Cialis is not recommended, as alcohol is recognised as potentially decreasing the effect of the Cialis. This can depend on the amount of alcohol consumed, and the strength of the Cialis dose. Drinking alcohol with Cialis also increases your chances of suffering any side-effects.
  • If after taking Cialis an erection is experienced for over four hours, a doctor should be consulted immediately. Without treatment for a prolonged erection, also known as priapism, serious damage to the penis can be caused.
  • If a blurring or loss of vision is experienced after taking Cialis tablets, you should stop taking the medication and seek medical advice immediately.

  • You have low or uncontrolled high blood pressure

As Cialis is capable of lowering blood pressure, the effect can be fatal if a nitrate drug (used to prevent or treat angina) is taken with it, for example GTN spray, nitrate tablets, patches, gel or ointment or nicorandil. These are usually prescribed for heart conditions and you should consult your GP for other options.

Alpha blockers (used for an enlarged prostate) can’t be used in combination with Cialis, unlike Sildenafil due to it’s long duration of action.

  • Headache
  • Blocked nose
  • Facial flushing

There are several medicines which should not be taken concurrently with Cialis. Medicines which can have potentially serious interactions with Cialis include :-

Can I drink  any juice when taking Cialis?

The only juice that interacts with Cialis is grapefruit juice. It can affect your body's metabolism of Cialis.

The juice prevents the breakdown of Tadalafil, the active ingredient in Cialis, in the body, allowing it’s greater absorption from the gut into the bloodstream. This increases the risk of any unwanted side effects.

Therefore, it’s best not to drink grapefruit juice when taking Cialis. There are no such warnings attached to drinking orange or apple juice.

Does alcohol have any effect on Cialis?

There is no problem in having one or two units of alcohol (a glass of wine or a small beer) with Cialis but any more than that will counteract the effects of the Tadalafil, the active ingredient within Cialis, and you may be disappointed with your performance.

Also, Cialis can cause low blood pressure and dizziness which alcohol can also cause , increasing

the likelihood of these side-effects. Furthermore, taking both together may result in heart palpitations where the heart beats irregularly. Therefore, drinking alcohol can not only be potentially dangerous but can ruin your sexual experience.

Can I get Cialis next day delivery?

Yes. if an order is placed online before 4pm on a working day then it will be received by tracked delivery the next working day. If an order is placed online before 4pm on a Friday then it can be delivered at the weekend for a small additional charge. Webmed Pharmacy delivers within an allocated one hour time slot, to most postcodes within the UK, which means you don't need to wait around all day for a delivery to arrive.

If you’re in a postcode area where we don’t use DPD your order will be delivered before 1pm the next working day by Royal Mail Special delivery.

How long does the effect of Cialis last for?

Cialis can be effective as an ED treatment for up to 36 hours. It should be noted that the effectiveness of Cialis - both in terms of the length of time it is effective, and in comparison with the effectiveness of other ED treatments - will vary according to the individual. Cialis, and its alternative unbranded version Tadalafil, is considered the longest lasting ED treatment available in today's market.

However, as with all forms of ED medication, you need to be sexually stimulated before you can achieve an erection.

How long does it take for Cialis to be eliminated from my body?

After taking around 30 minutes to have an effect, the main ingredient within Cialis, Tadalafil, can stay active in the system for as long as 36 hours. You should note that Cialis cannot produce an erection on its own and relies on sexual stimulation to do so.

Your overall health, any medications you’re taking, your diet, underlying health conditions, can all affect the amount of time Cialis takes to work in your body and how long it lasts. Cialis has a half-life of 17.5 hours, meaning that every 17.5 hours after taking it, there's only half as much of the drug left. After 35 hours, a quarter and so on.

This means that the Cialis is active for about 36 hours and means that you shouldn’t take another tablet within this time frame.

How safe is Cialis?

Cialis is an entirely safe ED treatment for many men, but if you suffer from certain medical conditions then Cialis may be an unsuitable treatment. These include uncontrolled high blood pressure or low blood pressure, liver disease, kidney disease and some heart conditions.

Also, it’s not suitable if you take certain medications. Please see the Product Information section on this Cialis page for more information.
