Weight Loss Pen (GLP-1) Side Effects & How to Manage Them Like a Pro

Posted 14 November 2025 in Weight Loss

Fat Lady Thumbs Up

Starting a GLP-1 weight loss pen is a huge step in your journey — congratulations! These pens can make it much easier to manage hunger, but like all medications, they can sometimes cause side effects.

👉 The good news? Not everyone experiences them, and most are temporary as your body adjusts.

👉 The most common side effects involve the stomach and digestive system.

👉 They may come back when your dose increases but usually improve again with time.

Here’s a practical guide to the most common GLP-1 pen side effects and how to manage them like a pro.

Managing Nausea and Vomiting on GLP-1 Pens

Nausea is the most common side effect when starting Saxenda, Wegovy, or other GLP-1 medications.

How to manage nausea

  • Eat smaller, more frequent meals instead of large ones.
  • Slow down and eat mindfully (avoid distractions).
  • Stick to low-fat, bland foods like toast, rice, eggs, or broth.
  • Stay upright after eating — avoid lying down.
  • Ginger tea, ginger biscuits, or peppermint may ease nausea.
  • If nausea is severe → speak to your provider about dose changes or temporary medication (e.g., cyclizine 50mg).

How to Reduce Diarrhoea from GLP-1 Injections

Diarrhoea is another common digestive side effect.

What helps:

  • Stay hydrated with water, broths, or electrolyte drinks.
  • Use oral rehydration sachets (200–400ml after each loose stool).
  • Consider loperamide: 2 capsules first, then 1 after each loose stool (max 8/day).
  • Avoid greasy, spicy, or high-fibre foods.
  • Small, light meals are best until it settles.

GLP-1 Pen Constipation Relief Tips

Some people experience the opposite — constipation.

How to prevent and treat constipation:

  • Slowly increase fibre (fruits, vegetables, oats, psyllium husk).
  • Try Fybogel sachets (1 twice daily).
  • Use Laxido (1–3 sachets daily for up to 2 weeks, then 1–2 daily for maintenance).
  • Drink 6–8 glasses of water/day.
  • Light walking (10–15 minutes, twice daily) helps your gut move.
  • Short-term aids: Senna, DulcoEase, or glycerin suppositories.

Indigestion While Using GLP-1 Injections

Some people experience heartburn or indigestion.

Relief options:

  • Antacids (e.g., Gaviscon).
  • H2 blockers (e.g., Zantac 75).
  • Proton Pump Inhibitors (e.g., Nexium) if heartburn is also present.

How to Reduce Burping

Burping can be annoying but manageable.

Tips:

  • Eat and drink more slowly.
  • Avoid fizzy drinks.
  • Skip chewing gum.
  • A short walk after eating may help.
  • Avoid fatty foods

GLP-1 Injection Site Reactions: What to Do

Up to 1 in 10 people may get soreness, redness, itching, or bruising where they inject.

What helps:

  • Usually improves as your body adjusts.
  • Try a non-drowsy antihistamine (loratadine, cetirizine, or fexofenadine).
  • If itching affects sleep → a sedating antihistamine like chlorphenamine may help.

GLP-1 Pen Headaches Explained

Headaches are usually mild.

What helps:

  • Drink more water (dehydration is a common cause).
  • Take paracetamol if needed.

Other Common GLP-1 Side Effects

Some users report:

  • Changes in taste
  • Dizziness
  • Gallstones
  • Low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia)

Low blood sugar warning signs: sweating, pale skin, headache, fast heartbeat, nausea, hunger, blurred vision, sleepiness, weakness, anxiety, confusion, shaking.

What to do:

  • Eat/drink fast-acting carbs like a banana, juice, or regular (not diet) soda.

Serious Side Effect: Pancreatitis and GLP-1 Pens

Though uncommon, GLP-1 pens (like Saxenda, Mounjaro and Wegovy) may cause pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas).

🚨 Seek urgent medical help and stop your pen if you experience:

  • Severe, persistent stomach pain (may spread to your back)
  • Nausea and vomiting

This can be life-threatening if untreated.

Wegovy®: More Than Weight Loss – A Breakthrough in Heart and Health Care

Posted 13 November 2025 in Weight Loss

A triumphant man

When it comes to weight loss, most treatments focus purely on the number on the scales. But Wegovy® (semaglutide) is different. This innovative GLP-1 injection doesn’t just help you lose weight — it’s now also clinically proven to help protect your heart and improve your long-term health.

Wegovy® is the only GLP-1 medication approved by the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) in the UK for both weight management and cardiovascular risk reduction in people who are overweight or living with obesity and have established heart disease.

What is Wegovy®?

Wegovy® is a prescription-only medication that contains semaglutide, a type of medicine known as a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It works by mimicking a natural hormone in your body that helps regulate appetite and blood sugar.

By helping you feel fuller for longer and reducing cravings, Wegovy® makes it easier to eat less — supporting significant, sustainable weight loss when combined with a balanced diet and regular physical activity.

Wegovy® can help you achieve clinically significant weight reduction — often greater than 15% of your starting weight.

The Heart Health Connection

Recent research has shown that losing weight with Wegovy® offers more than just aesthetic or lifestyle benefits — it can also have a major impact on cardiovascular health.

In a landmark clinical trial involving thousands of participants with excess weight and existing heart disease, Wegovy® reduced the risk of serious heart-related events — including heart attack, stroke, and cardiovascular death — by up to 20%.

This means Wegovy® doesn’t just help you look better and feel better — it can help you live longer.

Key Benefits of Wegovy®

✅ Proven Weight Loss:

In clinical studies, people taking Wegovy® lost significantly more weight than those using lifestyle changes alone — with many losing over 15% of their body weight.

❤️ Supports Heart Health:

Wegovy® is now recognised for its role in reducing the risk of major cardiovascular events in people living with overweight or obesity and heart disease.

💪 Improves Overall Health:

Weight loss achieved with Wegovy® can help improve blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and blood sugar control — all of which support long-term wellness.

⏳ Helps You Live Longer:

By lowering cardiovascular risks and improving metabolic health, Wegovy® can contribute to a longer, healthier life.

Who Can Use Wegovy®?

Wegovy® is suitable for adults who are:

  • Living with obesity (BMI ≥ 30), or
  • Overweight (BMI ≥ 27) with weight-related health conditions such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or high cholesterol.

It is not suitable for everyone, so it’s important to complete a medical questionnaire on our website and book in for a video consultation before starting treatment. Our doctor prescriber will review your medical history and decide whether Wegovy® is right for you.

Changing the narrative: From "Dependency" to "Treatment"

Posted 12 November 2025 in Weight Loss

A man and woman looking happy with their thumbs up

Many patients view GLP-1 medications (like Saxenda, Nevolat, Wegovy and Mounjaro) as something they should eventually stop, or else they’ve “failed.” This belief stems from how society has conditioned us to view weight management as a matter of willpower—not biology.

But weight is influenced by hormones, brain chemistry, genetics, metabolism, and long-term patterns—not just motivation. GLP-1 medications work with the body to correct a disrupted system. That isn’t dependency—it’s treatment.

“If your pancreas doesn't produce enough insulin, we use a long-term treatment for diabetes. If your blood pressure is high, you may stay on tablets for life. Weight regulation is also a biological problem. Using medication to correct it is not failure—it’s management.”

We don’t shame people for needing:

  • Thyroid medication for life
  • Anti-hypertensives for blood pressure
  • Statins for cholesterol

So why shame someone for needing support with a chronic condition like obesity?

Addressing the Fear: “What if I Put All the Weight Back On?”

It’s a valid fear.

GLP-1 medications help regulate appetite, fullness, blood sugar and insulin—hormonal systems the body often struggles to maintain on its own after weight loss.

  • If the medication is stopped, those biological signals often return, and weight regain isn’t a failure of character—it’s physiology.
  • Staying on treatment helps keep those systems balanced long-term, not just the weight.

Health Benefits—Go Way Beyond Appearance

Patients often only see the “cosmetic” benefits. However, you need to remind yourself of how your health, independence, and future life will improve:

Physical benefits:

  • Less joint pain
  • Easier movement (stairs, walking, tying shoelaces)
  • Better sleep and energy

Metabolic and long-term health benefits:

  • Reduced risk of heart attack and stroke
  • Lower blood pressure and cholesterol
  • Improved blood sugar and diabetes prevention
  • Longer, healthier life expectancy

Psychological benefits:

  • Better confidence and self-image
  • Reduced stress around food and dieting
  • Improved mood and social connection

“You deserve the same compassion and long-term care we offer for any other chronic disease.”

Final Thought

Weight loss medications aren’t an “addiction”—they are a science-backed tool that helps restore a system that isn’t functioning properly. Choosing to stay on them is not weakness—it’s wisdom.

GLP-1 Medication FAQ Sheet

Understanding long-term treatment for weight and health management

1. What are GLP-1 medications and how do they work?

GLP-1 medications (such as Saxenda, Wegovy, Mounjaro) are prescription treatments that mimic a natural hormone in the body called GLP-1. They help by:

  • Reducing appetite and cravings
  • Helping you feel fuller for longer
  • Regulating blood sugar and insulin levels
  • Supporting steady, sustainable weight loss

2. Are these medications an addiction?

No. These medications are not addictive.

They don’t create cravings or dependency — they simply help bring appetite and metabolic hormones back into balance. Just like using medication for high blood pressure or diabetes, this is about treating a chronic condition, not about willpower or weakness.

3. Why might I need to stay on it long-term?

Obesity is a chronic condition, not a short-term problem. If the medication is stopped, appetite signals and hormones often return to their previous state, and weight can naturally come back. This is not failure — it is biology.

Staying on the medication helps maintain the balance your body needs.

“The goal isn’t to stop medicine at all costs—the goal is to stay healthy and feel well.”

4. Will I gain all the weight back if I stop?

You may regain some weight if the medication is stopped, because your body will return to its previous hormonal state. But this isn’t your fault — it’s how the body protects its old weight. It tries to maintain it’s “Set Point”.

(Set point: The genetically determined weight range your body naturally maintains using hormones, metabolism, and appetite to resist major weight changes and protect against starvation).

Choosing to remain on treatment helps maintain your results and protect your long-term health.

5. Is it safe to take GLP-1 medication long-term?

Current evidence shows that long-term use is safe for most people and can actually reduce your risks of:

  • Heart attack and stroke
  • High blood pressure
  • Type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance
  • High cholesterol and fatty liver disease

6. Isn’t it cheating to use medication to lose weight?

No. You wouldn’t call it cheating if someone used glasses to see or an inhaler to breathe.

Weight regulation is controlled by hormones and the brain — not just motivation.

Using medication to restore balance is responsible, not shameful.

7. How is this different from a diet?

Dieting alone often leads to hunger, cravings, and temporary results. GLP-1 medication changes the signals inside your body — helping you naturally eat less without constant willpower.

Combined with healthy lifestyle habits, it leads to long-term success.

8. What are the benefits besides weight loss?

Physical benefits:

  • Easier movement, less joint pain
  • Climbing stairs, tying shoes, walking without breathlessness
  • Better sleep and energy levels

Mental and emotional benefits:

  • More confidence in daily life
  • Reduced stress around food and dieting
  • Better mood and self-esteem

Long-term health benefits:

  • Lower cardiovascular risk
  • Longer, healthier life
  • Prevention or improvement of diabetes

9. Does staying on GLP-1 mean I’ve failed?

Absolutely not!

Staying on treatment means you are taking control of your health, just like someone who uses medication for blood pressure, thyroid or cholesterol.

It’s not failure — it’s smart, preventative medicine.

10. What else can I do alongside the medication?

For best results, combine GLP-1 treatment with:

  • Balanced eating (not restriction, but nourishment)
  • Gentle movement and activity you enjoy
  • Good sleep and stress management
  • Keep well hydrated
  • Regular check-ins with your pharmacist/lifestyle coach or GP

Final Message to Patients

You deserve to feel well, move freely, and live longer in a healthy body. Taking GLP-1 medication is not giving up — it’s choosing to care for yourself.

Fuel your success: How smart nutrition supercharges weight loss injections

Posted 24 October 2025 in Weight Loss

Fuel your success - how smart nutrition supercharges weight loss injections

If you’ve started — or are considering — weight loss injections, you’re already taking a powerful step toward achieving your health and body goals. These treatments can help reduce appetite, regulate blood sugar, and make managing cravings easier, giving you that extra edge when dieting feels tough.

But here’s the truth: injections work best when paired with nourishing, balanced nutrition. The foods you eat don’t just influence the number on the scale — they affect your energy levels, mood, and long-term health.

Think of it this way: injections help open the door, but nutrition is what takes you through it.

🌟 Why Nutrition Makes All the Difference

Weight loss injections naturally reduce appetite, which can lead to eating less than usual. While this helps with calorie control, it also increases the risk of missing out on key nutrients. Without the right foods, you may experience:

✨ Low energy

✨ Digestive discomfort

✨ Long-term nutrient deficiencies

A well-balanced diet ensures your body stays strong, your metabolism remains active, and your results are sustainable — not just temporary.

🥗 Your Must-Have Nutrients for Lasting Results

To feel your best while losing weight, focus on these power players:

  • Protein – Keeps you fuller for longer, supports muscle strength, and protects against muscle loss. (Think chicken, fish, eggs, Greek yoghurt, tofu.)
  • Fibre – Found in fruits, veggies, beans, and wholegrains to aid digestion and gut health.
  • Vitamins & Minerals – Nutrients like B12, vitamin D, iron, and magnesium support energy, mood, and immunity — especially important when eating less.
  • Healthy Fats – Avocados, nuts, olive oil, and oily fish provide essential fatty acids for heart and brain health.
  • 💡 Pro Tip: Weight loss injections can suppress hunger, so every bite counts. Make every meal nutrient-dense instead of just calorie-light.

✅ Practical Nutrition Strategies That Work

Here’s how to stay nourished while your appetite adjusts:

    💚 Build Balanced Plates

Fill ½ your plate with colourful vegetables, ¼ with lean protein, and ¼ with wholegrains or starchy veggies.

A Healthy Eating Plate with a balance of Vegetables, Whole Grains, Healthy Protein and Fruits. Courtesy of Harvard Medical School.

    💪 Prioritise Protein

Include a protein source at every meal to maintain muscle and satiety.

    Small, Frequent Meals

With a reduced appetite, smaller meals spread throughout the day can feel more manageable than large portions.

    💧 Stay Hydrated

Aim for 1.5–2 litres of water daily to prevent dehydration or constipation.

    🧘 Eat Mindfully

Injections may alter natural hunger cues. Slow down, chew thoroughly, and tune into your body to avoid eating out of stress or habit. Avoid watching TV or scrolling your phone while eating!

⚡ Foods to Limit (for Maximum Results)

While no food is completely “off-limits,” cutting back on these will help you see faster, cleaner results:

🚫 Highly processed snacks (crisps, pastries, ready meals)

🚫 Sugary drinks that spike blood sugar without filling you up

🚫 Alcohol, which adds empty calories and slows weight loss

💡 Managing Common Side Effects with Food

    • Nausea: Try light, plain meals like crackers or rice, and sip ginger or peppermint tea.
    • Reflux: Avoid heavy, fatty meals and late-night eating.
    • Constipation: Boost fibre slowly and drink plenty of fluids. Add chia seeds or flaxseed to meals.
    • Fatigue: Choose iron-rich foods (lean red meat, lentils, spinach) and magnesium-rich options (nuts, seeds, wholegrains).
    • 🥑 Sample Meal Inspiration

Here’s a quick menu to spark ideas for your day:

      Breakfast

      • Greek yoghurt with chia seeds, berries & a sprinkle of nuts
      • Veggie omelette with spinach, mushrooms & tomatoes
      • Overnight oats with protein powder & a pinch of cinnamon

      Lunch

      • Grilled chicken salad with avocado & olive oil dressing
      • Lentil & vegetable soup with wholegrain bread
      • Tuna & bean salad with lemon & herbs

      Dinner

      • Baked salmon with roasted vegetables & quinoa
      • Turkey chilli with beans & brown rice
      • Stir-fried tofu or chicken with broccoli & peppers

      Smart Snacks

      • Boiled egg & veggie sticks
      • Hummus with cucumber & carrot sticks
      • Apple slices with almond butter
      • A small handful of unsalted nuts

      🌈 Your Next Step

Weight loss injections are an incredible tool, but the real magic happens when you pair them with vibrant, nutrient-rich eating. By fuelling your body with the right foods, you’ll not only lose weight—you’ll gain energy, confidence, and lasting health.

Are you buying fake medicines online?

Posted 17 October 2025 in Erectile Dysfunction, Men's Health, Sexual Health, Weight Loss

A question mark made of pills

You may have seen the headlines—or even spotted the segment on TV—about fake versions of a powerful new weight-loss jab being sold online. The drug in question, Retatrutide, is being hailed as the “King Kong” of weight-loss injections for its impressive early results. It’s currently in development by Eli Lilly, the same company behind Mounjaro, but it’s still in clinical trials and not approved for use anywhere in the world.
That hasn’t stopped scammers, though—reports show that counterfeit “Retatrutide” products are popping up on platforms like Facebook and TikTok, targeting people eager for quick results.

See the article here https://share.google/92WytoPSTCjbfwbKC

In recent years, social media platforms have become a powerful tool for marketing—but not always for the right reasons. A growing concern is the rise of fake medicines being advertised online, often through convincing posts, influencer endorsements, or targeted ads that promise quick cures and miracle results. These deceptive promotions can put people’s health and safety at serious risk, especially when prescription-only medications are sold without proper authorization.

Before purchasing any medication online, it’s essential to verify whether the website is operating legally and follows national regulations for dispensing prescription drugs. In this article, we’ll explore how to identify trustworthy online pharmacies and the key warning signs that a website may be selling counterfeit or unauthorized medicines.

How do you know if you are buying genuine medicines from a reputable registered seller?

It is illegal to buy any prescription only medicine unless a doctor has written a prescription specifically for you.

If a website or any seller is willing to sell a prescription only medicine without a prescription, it should be red flagged and don't buy! Avoid such platforms as they may be operating illegally and compromising your health.

How can you check that the website you want to use to obtain medicines is a legitimate online pharmacy?

All websites selling prescription medication in England should be registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), who are a government appointed independent regulator of health and social care.

CQC Regulated LogoAll fully approved and regulated websites should have a clickable link that will take you to the CQC register to show that they are compliant. Antrobus Medical Limited is the prescribing body for WebMed Pharmacy Ltd.

All medicines supplied from a pharmacy in Great Britain, including internet pharmacies, and must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and meet their standards.

Again, simply click on the logo which should take you through to that particular pharmacy's entry on the GPhC register.

GPhC Registered Pharmacy logo

All websites operating in the UK, but outside of England, must be registered with the equivalent body in each country: Healthcare Improvement Scotland, Healthcare Inspectorate Wales, and Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (Northern Ireland).

Therefore, anybody buying medicines from an online pharmacy can check if the pharmacy is legitimately registered by clicking on the logo or going directly to the GPhC website and searching their online register.

What other checks can be made?

For Data Security and Privacy

Always look for secure payment options, SSL encryption. A secure URL should begin with https rather than http. The "S" stands for secure. https://webmedpharmacy.co.uk

Reviewing customer feedback

Whilst they can be manipulated, customer reviews can provide valuable insights into the experiences of previous customers.

Click here for WebMed Pharmacy Trustpilot reviews.

You should be able to easily find the name, address and telephone number. An online supplier who conceals its physical address is a warning sign that their products could be dangerous.

When you order any medication from our UK registered and regulated pharmacy you can be assured that you are doing so safely, legally and discreetly.

It is important to avoid drug interactions. A significant risk of ordering medications online without proper checks is the potential for harmful drug interactions. Some drugs can have adverse effects when taken together or when interacting with certain medical conditions. A licensed healthcare provider is trained to consider these factors, whereas an unlicenced online platform might not provide the necessary guidance.

WebMed Pharmacy Ltd is fully approved and regulated, and only supplies medicines from a MHRA accredited wholesaler. You can confidently order from us, knowing that you can complete an online medical questionnaire in the comfort of your own home and if suitable can be prescribed by our GMC regulated doctor.

At WebMed Pharmacy Ltd we provide a confidential, discreet next working day delivery of your chosen medication, within a 1-hour time slot to the vast majority of postcodes in the UK or Click & Collect from a store near you, with a choice of 15,000 pickup shops nationwide.

In conclusion, the convenience of ordering medications online should not come at the cost of your health and safety. Doing the correct checks before making any online medication purchase is not only prudent but a critical step to safeguarding your well-being.

How to Safely Switch from Mounjaro to Wegovy: A Complete Guide for Weight Loss Patients

Posted 26 August 2025 in Weight Loss

Wegovy in 5 different dosesUnderstanding the Mounjaro to Wegovy Switch Process

Making the decision to switch from Mounjaro (tirzepatide) to Wegovy (semaglutide) represents a significant step in your weight loss journey. We can facilitate this transition when patients seek alternative treatment options or require dosage adjustments for optimal results.

Essential Safety Guidelines When You Switch from Mounjaro

Critical Timing Requirements

When planning your switch from Mounjaro, timing becomes absolutely crucial for your safety. You must never combine these medications simultaneously, as this combination creates serious health risks and potentially dangerous side effects.

Healthcare professionals mandate a minimum seven-day waiting period between your final Mounjaro injection and your initial Wegovy dose. This waiting period allows your body to start to eliminate the remaining tirzepatide while potentially preventing harmful drug interactions.

This means that if you usually take your Mounjaro on a Monday then you can start your new dose of Wegovy on the same day the following week after your last dose of Mounjaro. Therefore, no gap in treatment.

Switching from Mounjaro to Wegovy

  • 👉 The good news: You can switch after just ONE week!
  • Example: Take Mounjaro on Monday ➡️ Next Monday, start Wegovy

Buy Wegovy

Why Simultaneous Use Poses Serious Risks

Taking Mounjaro and Wegovy together consistently amplifies side effects significantly. Both medications affect blood sugar levels and digestive processes, making concurrent use potentially hazardous.

Determining Your Appropriate Wegovy Starting Dose

Professional Medical Assessment

We will advise you on your switch from Mounjaro to Wegovy. These recommendations determine the most suitable Wegovy starting dose based on your current dose of Mounjaro.

Mounjaro Price Increase: What UK Patients Need to Know About Changes to Mounjaro Prices

Posted 26 August 2025 in Weight Loss

Mystery box with pound signs flying out of itEli Lilly has announced a significant Mounjaro price increase that will affect UK patients starting September 1st, 2025. The pharmaceutical giant, which manufactures Mounjaro (tirzepatide), has implemented this pricing change as part of a broader strategy to align UK costs with other European markets.

Mounjaro (mg) Current Price New Price % Increase
2.5 mg £150 £170 13.3%
5 mg £150 £205 36.7%
7.5 mg £170 £260 52.9%
10 mg £190 £290 52.6%
12.5 mg £215 £310 44.2%
15 mg £215 £330 53.5%

Understanding the Mounjaro Price Increase Impact

Why Is Mounjaro Getting More Expensive?

The price increase stems from Eli Lilly's decision to standardize Mounjaro pricing across European markets. This manufacturer-level decision means that all pharmacies including WebMed Pharmacy have no control over the cost adjustments, despite our commitment to maintaining affordable patient care.

What This Means for Current Mounjaro Users

Patients currently benefiting from Mounjaro treatment face uncertainty about continued access to this life-changing medication. We recognize that this price increase affects real people who have experienced remarkable health transformations through Mounjaro (tirzepatide) therapy.

The Life-Changing Impact of Mounjaro Treatment

We have seen extraordinary patient transformations over the past year, including:

  • Significant health improvements
  • Restored confidence levels
  • Renewed hope for better quality of life
  • Sustainable weight management results

These outcomes represent more than clinical statistics—they reflect genuine human experiences and life-changing journeys that the Mounjaro price increase now threatens to disrupt.

AAH, our wholesaler and sole supplier of Mounjaro, is increasing the prices to us from next Thursday 28th August and so we will try not to apply the increase until Monday 1st September. However, this may not be possible as AAH have set monthly quotas and we may not be able to order some strengths that we have run out of until the start of September!

Support Resources During the Price Transition

WebMed Pharmacy Commitment

Despite the challenging price increase, we remain dedicated to:

  • Maintaining transparent communication with patients
  • Providing comprehensive guidance throughout the transition
  • Ensuring fair treatment access whenever possible
  • Offering ongoing support for treatment continuity

Patient Support Options

Patients concerned about the Mounjaro cost changes should know they have access to:

  • Professional healthcare guidance
  • Treatment alternative discussions
  • Continuous care coordination

Preparing for September 2025 Changes

Taking Action Before the Price Increase

Patients currently using Mounjaro should:

  1. Consult with WebMed Pharmacy about treatment options
  2. Discuss alternative treatment strategies if needed
  3. Plan for potential cost adjustments in their healthcare budget

Long-term Treatment Planning

The Mounjaro price increase requires patients and providers to develop sustainable long-term treatment strategies that balance clinical effectiveness with financial accessibility.

Moving Forward Despite Pricing Challenges

While the Mounjaro price increase presents significant challenges for UK patients, we remain committed to supporting patient health journeys. The focus continues on ensuring that life-changing treatments remain accessible despite manufacturer pricing decisions beyond local control.

Patients facing concerns about the upcoming price increase should remember that WebMed Pharmacy will offer comprehensive support to help navigate these changes while maintaining their health and wellness goals.

Latest Gonorrhoea Treatment Available Online

The British Association for Sexual Health and HIV recently updated their second line gonorrhoea treatment (April 2025).

We offer second line treatment for those who don’t want an injection or don't want to go to a sexual health clinic.

Sex without using a condom can increase your risk of getting a STI. Also, sex toys can increase your risk and so should be washed and covered with a new condom each time they are used.

Gonorrhoea Antibiotics Treatment

The new updated treatment for gonorrhoea is four tablets of Suprax (800mg) and four tablets of Azithromycin(2G). You take two Suprax (400mg) and two Azithromycin (1G) tablets at once and then repeat after 6 hours.

It will treat urogenital, rectal and throat gonorrhoea in both women and men.

You will need to complete an online or phone consultation before a treatment can be sent to you but don't worry, this is a fairly simple and very discreet service.

Testing for Gonorrhoea

If you have put yourself at risk and are concerned, then you should wait 14 days before taking a test as it may take this amount of time before the infection can be detected.

If you visit your GP you will probably be signposted to a genitourinary medicine, GUM, clinic which may also be called a Sexual Health Clinic. If you find it difficult to either get an appointment at a clinic or are simply short of time or indeed too embarrassed to go to a clinic, you can choose to order a test from us at Webmed Pharmacy.

You can get a test kit from our web site

Our test kits are sent to The Doctors Laboratory (TDL) in London. They are the largest independent providers of clinical laboratory diagnostic services in the UK. Once the lab has received your sample, your results will be available 2-3 days later.

The kits are posted in discreet plain unmarked packaging with no indication of their contents or who it‘s from.

Gonorrhoea Symptoms

Symptoms in Men

  • Burning sensation/pain when urinating
  • Inflammation of the foreskin
  • An unusual discharge from the tip of the penis that may be green, yellow or white.
  • Tenderness or pain in the testicles

Symptoms in Women

  • Burning sensation/pain when urinating.
  • Bleeding between periods and/or heavier periods.
  • A change in vaginal discharge which may be thick and green or yellow in colour.
  • Lower abdominal discomfort.
  • Bleeding after sex

How Does Gonorrhoea Infection Treatment Work?

Suprax contains cefixime which belongs to a group of antibiotics called cephalosporins which are related to penicillin. It works by interfering with the ability of bacteria to form cell walls.

The cell walls are vital to their survival and thus this causes the death of the bacteria and the subsequent elimination of the infection. The combination of the two antibiotics Suprax (Cefixime) and Azithromycin taken together in two separate doses will treat urogenital and rectal gonorrhoea in both women and men.read more
